Garden Day Thursday, July 12th:

This is the actual kit we are using from Milestones.

Join us in the children's garden this Thursday, July 12th at 10am to help make stepping stones for our garden paths! We will be making the mix for the stepping stone molds, writing the names of all the awesome local businesses that generously donated to the garden and decorating them with stones and shells! Dress to get messy!

Garden on July 3

Tomato, (terracotta pot) cucumber (tan pot), The Three Sisters (corn, squash and pole beans above stone wall) all doing well! All the rain followed by warm, sunny weather really made the garden pop alive! The tomatoes seem to thrive on the patio with all the heat and sun despite the long days of rainy weather.
Come visit the garden and look for all the blooms (flower blossoms). Blossoms on tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, beans or zucchini, if pollinated properly, will turn into fruit!

Cultivating Kids in the Garden!

Planting Melampodium in the garden.

Today in the children's garden we weeded, planted melampodium under the tree, decorated plant markers for the new plantings, retied yarn for the perimeter trellising, added trellising to the teepee and watered. Oh, and some wee folks did some general digging! Thanks for all who came out and helped out! Please stop by anytime the library is open and enjoy the garden!

Cultivating Kids Garden Day

The third "Cultivating Kids" Garden Day was held on Thursday, June 14th under very sunny skies! We planted the last of the pots on the patio with flower and herb seeds. We also planted some pumpkins near the Three Sisters bed, Melons in the Cucurbit bed (see below) and pole beans and morning glory in the Teepee bed. We weeded and watered the planters and beds. Katie, our invaluable helper, strung colorful yarn between the stakes for our wax beans, nasturtium and sunflowers to grow up.
